As a parent, it can be heartbreaking to see your child struggle with communication. For children with autism, communicating can be especially challenging. At the Autism Center of Sauk Valley, we understand the difficulties that families in Sterling, Rock Falls, Dixon, and surrounding areas face when it comes to supporting their child's communication needs. That's why we're proud to offer in-home Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy services to help children with autism learn to communicate more effectively, among other skills.
Let me tell you about a child we'll call Jack. Jack was three years old and had very limited communication skills. He would often throw tantrums and become frustrated when he couldn't communicate his needs or wants. His parents were concerned about his behavior and didn't know how to help him.
That's when Jack's parents enrolled him in ABA therapy. ABA therapy is a proven and effective method for teaching children with autism how to communicate. A team of professionals including a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) worked with Jack to identify his specific communication needs and develop a customized treatment plan.
Over time, Jack began to make significant progress. He learned to use a speech-generating device to communicate his wants and needs. He also began to use more verbal communication and was able to express himself in ways he had never been able to before. Jack's parents were thrilled with his progress and were amazed at how much his communication skills had improved and as a bonus, Jack's tantrums decreased and he seemed to be a much happier kid.
At the Autism Center of Sauk Valley, we believe that every child with autism has the potential to learn and communicate. Our in-home ABA therapy services are designed to help children develop the skills they need to communicate effectively. We work closely with families to create a customized treatment plan that is tailored to their child's specific needs.
